7) Round-table on July 2nd, on Indo-Dutch partnerships in MSMEs
On July 2, 2010, INBA organised a roundtable conference on Indo-Dutch partnerships in micro, medium and small enterprises (MSMEs) at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The event saw a lively discussion between all attendees and the panellists—Mr Dinesh Rai, IAS, Secretary (MSME), Government of India and His Excellency Mr Bob Hiensch, Ambassador of the Netherlands to India.
The general consensus was that there are several ways in which the Netherlands can help Indian SMEs, particularly in skills development, while India can make the SME market more investor friendly. Mr Rai answered an important question when he said, "The Indian government does not differentiate between foreign and Indian SMEs. All incentives available to SMEs in India can be taken advantage of by Dutch companies as well. Foreign companies are welcome to access facilities in SME clusters."
8) INBA New Year Lunch was held on 24th Jan 2010 at Hotel Vista, MG Road.
New Year’s Lunch
INBA kicked off the New Year with its usual panache, with a health talk and a family lunch on January 24. The sun graced us finally after days of chilly weather and the INBA community made the most of the fun, food and family event.
The day started on a serious note, with Dr. P.N.Renjen, Senior Consultant, Neurology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, speaking to us on Brain Stroke – Dos and Don’ts. The 45-minute talk was most insightful and useful in telling us how to avoid stress to avoid strokes.
After the talk, it was all about music, dance and good cheer! Folk dancers enthralled everyone with their energetic performance. And, of course, drinks and food followed to everyone’s satisfaction. The rest of the time disappeared as everyone tried to catch up with each other, filling in each other on New Year escapade and 2010 plans.
The event, held in the lawns of Hotel Vista on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, was hosted by Mrs. Cokky Reuvers, Mrs. Petra Wolff, Mrs. Madhu Srivastava, and Mrs. Anita Sinha, and was collectively sponsored by the Governing Board of INBA.
See you all soon again!

Venue: Hotel Imperial
On 20th November, 2009, the business circles of Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune met at Hotel Imperial, New Delhi—all together for the first time. What followed was a very productive meet, in which discussions took place, among other things, about a home website of all business circles and common brand guidelines. The most important outcome was the selection of a common name—India Netherlands Business Circles.
10) Seminar on Climate Change
Date and time: 18th September 2009, 7 pm onwards
Venue: Conference Room II, India International Centre, Max Mueller Road, New Delhi
As the world grapples with the increasing effects of global warming, and consequently, changing climate, the only way forward is to spread awareness and build a consensus towards constructive measures. In its attempt to do that, INBA has organized a seminar on climate change. With India’s back-to-nature simplicity and the Netherlands’ expertise in green energy and green design, there is a lot the two can learn (and are learning) from each other.
The seminar offers the expert opinions of two eminent speakers: Mr. V. Subramanian, IAS (Retd.), Former Secretary to the Govt. of India, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Dr. Leena innovation Srivastava, Executive Director, The Energy Resources Institute (TERI). During his tenure as the Secretary of MNRE, Mr. Subramanian made the difference and created the enabling environment for private sector to get into new and renewable energy. Post superannuation, he has continued his passion for new and renewable energy and is advising several companies on their projects. TERI needs no introduction. Dr. Leena has been associated with TERI for many years and has championed several research and commercialization projects. She has also pioneered the strategy for disseminating the imperatives and potential contributions amongst various segments of society.
We look forward to seeing both, you and your spouse, and are sure you will find it worth your while.
11) INBA-BBA Seminar on New Investment Laws & Investment Climate in India
Happenings
On August 26, INBA hosted an event that had representation from the entire Benelux region. The event was a seminar on "New Investment Laws and Investment Climate in India" organized at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Besides INBA members, the seminar was also open to members of the Belgian Business Association (BBA) as well as representatives from the embassies of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
In the changing financial climate, and with India in the spotlight as one of the few countries that has withstood the global recession, taxation and investment are both of critical pertinence for any new business venturing into the country. The seminar sought to clarify these two aspects of the Indian financial climate for the international audience. There were two extremely enlightening presentations at the event taken forward by Shardul Shroff, Managing Partner, Amarchand & Mangaldas, and by Richard Rekhy, COO, KPMG India. While Shardul Shroff gave a comprehensive picture of the foreign investment regulatory regime in India, including the policy and the recent changes, Richard Rekhy demystified the new Direct Tax Code set by the government, and the key provisions in it that impact foreign businesses in the country. The presentations were followed by an extremely interactive Q&A session, as the topic of discussion was extremely important and top of mind for all attendees. The questions and interaction continued over cocktails, leading to the end of an interesting and stimulating evening.
